The Royal Mint began its legacy over a millenium ago, in 886 AD, at a time when dragons were, by many, believed to be a lot more than mere legend.
As The Royal Mint celebrated 50 years at its current home in Llantrisant, South Wales, this coin commemorates the long standing bullion business between the Royal Mint and Asia and features the mythical creature which has long been a symbol of power to both Wales and the Asian nations. It is a commemorative called Power and Patriotism.
It is a 2018 2 Pounds weighting 1oz with 99.9% silver purity and Brilliant Uncirculated finish. Its mintage was 50,000 units.
The coin's reverse shows a dynamic dance between two fiery dragons, one portrayed in the unmistakable Asian style and the other, unmistakably Welsh.
The obverse shows the fifth crowned portrait of HM Queen Elizabeth II facing right, wearing the George IV State Diadem.
