As most of you would know by now, HF21 will most likely be activated in around a week's time. With the introduction of the EIP and SPS, there is a lot to look forward to. But did you know that the changes will impact all that you do now. This post by @tarazkp give some good advice about how to prepare for the Hard Fork.
How to prepare for HF21 now
If I understand it correctly, the changes to 50/50 curation rewards and convergent reward curve will affect all open posts wehn the Hard Fork is activated on August 27. This means that it will impact all posts up to 7 days in advance of HF21 taking place, which includes now.
So if you haven't done so already, it is time to review your curation habits. With the convergent reward curve, low paying posts will be even less, and above a certain threshold, it will operate similar to a linear curve. This means that votes on comments will most likely be affected, as most may not reach the threshold of the reward curve or threshold of $0.02 reward payout.
Voting Window change
Another important thing to note in HF21 is that the voting window will be reduced from 15 minutes to 5 minutes. This means that you will be able to vote for posts much earlier without incurring curation penalties. In light of this change, it would be wise to review and modify your automated voting rules and change your voting habits.
In summary, I'm very much looking forward to HF21 and see what will unfold. The first few days after the Hard Fork will be very interesting, and remember not to panic if things don't go as you expect. We've been there before as a community and have always gotten through, and I expect we will be alright when everything settles.
